Fairtex BGV9 Mexican Style Boxing Gloves White

Fairtex BGV9 Boxing Gloves - Heavy Hitter

Overview & Unique Design

The Fairtex BGV9 Boxing Glove is a versatile, high-quality option handcrafted in Thailand for Muay Thai, kickboxing, or MMA athletes who require flexibility for catching kicks, clinching, and blocking. What sets the BGV9 apart is its unique western boxing-inspired design, featuring a slightly curved shape and a compact, tight fit for better hand control. Unlike traditional Muay Thai gloves, the BGV9 offers a wider, more open palm for easier clinch maneuvers and better airflow, plus distinct reinforced grip bars for a secure fist.

User Suitability & Alternatives

While the BGV9 is suitable for both intermediate and advanced users, beginners may prefer gloves with a more padded design or easier fit as they develop technique and hand conditioning. For those just starting out, options like the Fairtex BGV1, Blegend BGL32, or Twins Special BGVL-3 are excellent beginner-friendly choices, offering softer padding and a roomier fit to accommodate new students. Made with premium leather, strong stitching, and a slightly open palm, the BGV9 breaks in quickly while maintaining structure and durability.

Padding, Fit & Performance

Dense, two-layer latex foam padding is concentrated across the knuckles for maximum protection and impact feedback. Even weight distribution enhances control and alignment during training. The compact fit, reinforced thumb, and ergonomic grip bars offer comfort and hand security, making the glove ideal for heavy bag and pad work. A large palm opening improves ventilation and fits even larger hands with handwraps. Compared to similar gloves like the Fairtex BGV1, the BGV9 stands out with its more pronounced curved shape and tighter fit, allowing for increased hand control. The BGV9's padding is denser than many traditional Muay Thai gloves, offering greater protection during intense sessions, but it may feel slightly stiffer at first than softer models.

Care & Maintenance

To maintain glove hygiene and extend their life, wipe them down regularly with a clean, dry cloth after each use and let them air-dry thoroughly. Avoid leaving gloves in a closed gym bag for extended periods, as moisture buildup can lead to odor and deterioration. For deeper cleaning, use a gentle disinfectant spray suitable for leather and avoid soaking the gloves. Periodically check the gloves for signs of wear and allow them to dry in a well-ventilated area between training sessions. We recommend use of odor-eliminating spray and pouches.

Sizing, Recommendations & Alternatives

Available in sizes 10 to 16 oz, the BGV9 is ideal for intense bag and pad sessions but is not recommended for sparring, as its dense padding can increase the risk of injury to training partners by transferring more force during punches. When choosing your glove size, consider your weight, hand size, and training purpose. Lighter gloves like 10 or 12 oz are often preferred for bag or pad work for fighters with lower body weight, while 14 or 16 oz provide more protection for heavier training, fighters of heavier weight or larger hands. Make sure the gloves fit snugly but comfortably with your hand wraps on to ensure both safety and comfort. For sparring, consider alternatives such as the Fairtex BGV1, Blegend BGL32, or Twins Special BGVL-3, which provide softer padding for better protection of both you and your training partners.

Conclusion

Choose the Fairtex BGV9 for superior hand protection, durability, and authentic Muay Thai performance.
